Gas Exchange

A UK Paediatric Respiratory Podcast

About

Gas Exchange is a non-profit podcast run by paediatric registrars in the UK. We aim to broaden the knowledge of medical health professionals with an interest in the paediatric respiratory sub-specialty. We invite experienced members in the field to discuss interesting topics, both academic and clinical.

Meet the Team

Dr Kirstin Dykes
Based in Bristol, Kirstin is currently completing a Clinical Teaching Fellow year between ST4 and ST5 Paediatrics in the Severn Deanery. After discovering a love for Paediatric Respiratory Medicine she was disappointed to find that there were no accessible UK-based podcasts on the subject. Deciding to change that, she recruited a few colleagues via Twitter, and Gas Exchange was born. Her interests include lungs, words, the outdoors, and what makes people tick. Perenially aspiring triathlete, if only she could learn to swim competently...Friends say she owns too many books, but they're clearly wrong.

Dr Adam Lawton
Adam is a paediatric registrar in the London Deanery, with an interest in general and respiratory paediatrics, medical ethics, and medical education. Adam has been interested in respiratory medicine since his first year of medical school, when he had to write an essay on how birds breathe (look it up, it's really interesting!). The respiratory SHO job at GOSH cemented his desire to work in a place adjacent to so many excellent coffee shops.

Dr Saskia Burchett
Originally from Hong Kong, Saskia is a senior general paediatrics registrar who is completing a SPIN in respiratory medicine. She is currently based at Royal Brompton Hospital for a year. Outside of medicine, she enjoys forcing her baking experiments on loved ones, amateur embroidery and history podcasts. She is also a crazy cat mum to Milo.
